SUMMER
An Exhibition of Landscape Painting
by Harold B. Stone
November 19 – December 31, 2011
Opening Reception
Saturday, December 3, 5 – 9 PM
“I do not paint scenery, and I do not paint winter. Take me instead to a grove of deciduous trees, preferably with water nearby, on a hot day.
Painting the complexity of color and texture expressed in this setting is a daunting technical problem which I do not find therapeutic in the least. The light and air are nice, though, and when a painting works, it accomplishes, for me, one of the more modest purposes of art: to remind us what summer is like.”
