"Playing with the Moon"
by Susan McDonald
This small format accordion book was designed as a pictorial dance. It
takes advantage of the potential the folding book has to describe time. It
has a whimsical narrative as the moon changes form, and offers an
opportunity for the expression of the human figure. Color changes as the
narrative develops to enchance the sense of time passing.
The book is painted in egg tempera and watercolor on Japanese paper, and
is painted on both sides, although the narrative occurs on only one face
of the book. |
